Cara Sturley
I first picked up pottery in 2008, and found that it was a great way to relax while creating something useful. Most of my work is functional, though there are certainly aspects that are simply pretty to look at.
I tend toward botanical or nature inspired themes, though I prefer brighter colors not necessarily associated with traditional pottery. I also prefer to work with un-grogged clay, so it's mostly porcelain. There is something soft and luminous about porcelain that always draws my eye and entices me to pick it up.
I am working more on decoration and texture these days, though pottery will always be a constant learning experience no matter how long I work at it.
